“Small steps to Social, Economic and Environmental Commitments by Interior Designer Moms in NYC”

Korissa, created by two regular New York moms, Nora and Angela, is a lifestyle brand with a mission to inspire the modern shopper to purchase consciously. We, as mothers of children, are part of the world and recognize that we are facing the challenges. In this age of ongoing climate change and income inequality throughout the world, we cannot afford to ignore the role we play as designers and moms. This is why Korissa is focused on providing gorgeous, high-quality products that are both environmentally and socially responsible. Our materials are locally-sourced, and environmentally-friendly, while our artisans are also sourced locally and compensated well-above fair wages for workers in struggling communities. Most importantly, our team of designers at Korissa find inspiration from the distinctive artisanal heritage from each locally-sourced region. These natural materials, culturally-rich designs, and lovingly-made products are embedded in each unique Korissa lifestyle craft. Thus, your orders are helping to guarantee that our artisan can continue to care about a quality product as well as their community who work with them.

KORISSA feel proud of being a part of the collective journey to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Would you be all a part of our story as well?

WHAT WE MAKE DIFFERENCE

Sustainable Community - SDG11
“We all share the responsibility while helping achieve inclusive, people-centered and sustainable development with no one left behind.”
In partnerships with a women-led, community-based organization, KORISSA taps into the rich well of skill and artistry that is passed from one generation of women to the next. Our staff and products proceed from product sales in providing sustainable market access as well as supporting affordable education quality and health care to enable our partners to prosper and thrive well in the future.

HOW WE MAKE

Responsible Production - SDG12
“We allow us to do more with less – be it alternative, more efficient use, new forms of more sustainable, environmentally-friendly forms of production.”
We take a lot of time and care to learn about our environment, and all of the products made by our artisans are hand-made, and carefully designed to be environmentally friendly.

WHERE WE MAKE

Transparent Partnership- SDG8
“We believe in total transparency."
While aspiring to provide our artisans access to fair wages, broader markets and secure, sustainable livelihoods, we are committed to cultivating long-term balanced trade relationships with low-income artisan communities in Bangladesh and Ecuador. We also try to create enriching opportunities and new possibilities for artisans and their communities.
